development of Phlogger3 stopped!

Postby pipo on Sun Aug 20, 2006 11:07 pm

Active development of PowerPhlogger has been stopped as of August 2006.

PowerPhlogger has not had any active development for more than 2 years. The announced successor Phlogger3 will not be released. Also, I am not able to provide you with support for any previous version.
I am sorry about the bad news.
PowerPhlogger was a great project and it grew to a huge community of users and supporters. I really appreciate all the help and enthusiasm you brought towards this project.
During the last years I had to move on and focus on other projects. Sometimes it just seems that life's a bit too short for all the things I'd like to do...
All PowerPhlogger sites will stay online and the board on is still there. As long as you keep it running, PowerPhlogger will not die. Maybe, some day somebody will write a fork of PowerPhlogger and move on. I am looking forward to it!

The Phlogger3 sections in this board will be closed in a couple of days.

Is there an alternative?

Postby chupa on Thu Sep 21, 2006 8:39 pm

I'm very sorry to see PPhlogger die. I've been using this software for a couple of years now. I'm running a free counter service with a several 100s of lucky satisfied users on and had also donated some money to this project.

I can understand that in one's life there are changes in how to spend the 24 hours a day only has. Thank you very much for work for this software in the past.

Does anyone now if there's an alternative to PPHlogger? There are a lot of great statistic tools but I couldn't find other (opensource) software for running a (free) counter service.

Is anybody interested in keep on developing PPhlogger or working on a fork? I am. But my programming skills are far too bad. But I'm very good in community bulding, keeping people together, making to-do-lists, organization. I could also contribute free hosting for a development platform. So if you know a bored PHP coder, let me know! ^^

I know of no other software that does the same as pphlogger.
I can think of many individual counter services, which you can run, but none for a multi user style setup.

Good luck with keeping it going. It could be interesting to see where it goes.
