I've recently noticed that MSN bots comes only 1 or 2 at onec (3 bots at the same time was the record for me)
but, they sit there for hours!
one of them sit at my site for 33 hours, I couldnt even open the log page without increasing timeout settings in php.ini file...
here is screenshot of how much it visited at one time:

(if image is broken, click here)

Its good that this way they dont make "false hits" as google does, when they attac sometimes with 100 simulation connections...

Ouch!
This must be their new search engine in operation.
As you say, nice to see that it counts as only the one unique hit unlike other search engines which can hit the pages several times.

Do you use the PHP version of the code or just JS?

I use JS/img but do checking if the visitor is a known bot in PHP, if so then log them through PHP.

Ah right Smile
I suppose that's one of the advantages of running the logger on the same hosting as your other site!

Recently I've noticed Google started doing same thing, the bots dont stay for THAT long, but they are browsing quet a bit before disconnecting. Before sometimes they visit one page per bot...very anoing...

Yeah, i've noticed that as well.
It's better than before, but it would nice if the whole site was spidered in one go!
