Hi,

In the past week or so I have started seeing this on my site:

Warning: mysql_connect(): User XXX has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /home/evolutionmsport/XXX/db/mysql/db.class.php on line 210

Unable to connect to database!

About the only thing that has changed on my site is that I have gone from the JS to the PHP/JS implementation of PPhlogger.

Could this be causing the problem?

Thanks....Mike

It sounds like your server is setup to limit how many MySQL connections you are allowed at any one time.
This is what's causing the problem.

Do you have persistent connections enabled? If so, disable them from the config file and see if that helps.

Persistent connections are off. I talked with my host and apparently the server I am on has a low number of connections. Regardless, it just started having problems when I switched to the PHP/JS implementation.

Is there any difference in the amount or type of connections made with the PHP/JS implementation vs the JS implementation?

Thanks...Mike

yes, i would imagine the mysql connections increase using the php version, why does the host have such a low number?

if they are unwilling to increase the number then I think the quickest solution would be to return to JS. Smile

I think the PHP/JS combination will use use two connections instead of one, but still, that's not a great increase.

yeah it doesn't sound like one. I talked to the host and they will move me to a server with increased connections.

What benefit does the PHP/JS version have over the JS version? I have been looking at my logs and it seems like at times the PHP/JS version may be recording more information, but I am not quite sure it is totally unique.

Thanks....Mike

The PHP/JS combination will log search engine hits, which the JS version alone normally doesn't do.
This is why you have a lot more hits than you would if using the JS version.
